Twardzik Highlights $1.4 Million in School Safety Grants

HARRISBURG – More than $1.4 million in state funding has been awarded to 10 schools and educational institutions serving the 123rd Legislative District through Pennsylvania’s School Safety and Mental Health Grant Program, according to Rep. Tim Twardzik (R-Schuylkill).

The 10 recipients were awarded a combined $1,407,245. The funding can be used for physical security enhancements, behavioral health supports or both. Recipients include:

  • Blue Mountain School District – $204,984. 
  • Gillingham Charter School – $70,000. 
  • Minersville Area School District – $148,329. 
  • North Schuylkill School District – $193,211. 
  • Pottsville Area School District – $208,325. 
  • Saint Clair Area School District – $135,528. 
  • Schuylkill Haven Area School District – $149,236. 
  • Schuylkill IU 29 – $70,000. 
  • Schuylkill Technology Center – $70,000. 
  • Shenandoah Valley School District – $157,632. 

“I am glad to see this funding coming to schools serving the 123rd District,” said Twardzik. “These grants will help our local schools strengthen security, address behavioral health needs and create safer learning environments for students and staff. Investing in the safety and well-being of our students is an investment in the future of our communities.”

The School Safety and Mental Health Grant Program provides funding to help schools address safety and security needs, as well as support the behavioral health and well-being of students and staff. The grants can help schools make improvements that create safer learning environments and provide students with access to needed mental health resources.
