Twardzik, Argall Announce Funding for Affordable Housing Projects in Schuylkill County

June 12, 2025

HARRISBURG – Rep. Tim Twardzik (R-Schuylkill) and Sen. Dave Argall (R-29) are pleased to announce that several affordable housing projects in Schuylkill County have received a combined $500,000 in funding through the Pennsylvania Housing Affordability and Rehabilitation Enhancement (PHARE) Fund.

“This critical funding provides resources to help our community’s most vulnerable residents access safe, affordable housing,” said Twardzik. “I’m proud to support initiatives that offer homelessness prevention, transitional housing, and services for at-risk youth and families facing financial challenges.”

“I’m thankful this highly competitive funding will support our neighbors in need in Schuylkill County,” said Argall. “These organizations all do excellent work to support at-risk individuals, and they deserve our support as they pursue their missions.”

Local programs being supported:
• Servants to All will receive $125,000 to provide financial help for security deposits, rent, arrears, short-term emergency shelter care and case management.
• Service Access and Management Inc. will receive $100,000 to support at-risk youth with case management, health care access and financial assistance.
• Schuylkill Community Action will receive $150,000 to offer financial education, personalized coaching and housing counseling to individuals and families facing hardship.
• Schuylkill Community Action’s Bridge House will receive $125,000 to provide stable, sober housing for homeless victims of domestic violence, low-income individuals and those recovering from substance abuse.

The funds come from Marcellus Shale impact fees and realty transfer taxes and are awarded through the PHARE Fund, which is administered by the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency.
