Harrisburg, PA – Rep. Tim Twardzik (R-Schuylkill) announced the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) has awarded $78,601 in competitive grant funding to Schuylkill Technology Center (STC) located in the 123rd Legislative District.
This grant funding will be used to purchase new equipment to help train students in high-demand occupations through career and technical education programs. Twardzik praised Assistant Executive Director Shannon Brennan for the center’s growing success.
“The staff at STC are doing a fantastic job for our students,” said Twardzik. “Our local businesses are finding the graduates are job ready and enjoying careers with bright futures. Working with Sen. Dave Argall to bring in this competitive grant funding has been a successful formula for Schuylkill County.”
Career and technical education offers students the opportunity to develop critical skills through a combination of classes and hands-on learning experiences, which allow them to apply academics to real-world problems. Thousands of students earn industry credentials or certifications for local jobs in high demand, so they graduate on a path for success.
