– The Schuylkill Economic Development Corporation in Schuylkill County today was awarded $750,000 in Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program (RACP) funding for the SEDCO Pad Ready Site at Highridge Business Park, announced Rep. Tim Twardzik (R-Schuylkill) and Senator David G. Argall (R-Berks/Schuylkill).
“The project will include site construction for a 75,000-square-foot building pad with accompanying storm water improvements, utility extensions, highway access and landscaping,” said Twardzik. “In today’s industrial development market, it is imperative to have sites that are permitted and ready to go for demanding prospects. The Highridge Business Park has brought thousands of good jobs to our county with top employers such as Wegman’s, Walmart and Lowe’s. Taxes paid by these businesses have supported schools and our communities. This is another great investment in Schuylkill County.”
“This state investment is a huge boost to SEDCO’s efforts to further develop Highridge Business Park and assist employees and employers in our region,” said Argall. “I’m thankful that Rep. Twardzik was successful in taking the lead to bring this highly competitive funding here to bring more family-sustaining jobs to our communities.”
The funding was awarded through the state’s Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program, which supports the acquisition and construction of regional economic, cultural, civic, recreational and historical improvement projects. RACP projects are authorized in the Redevelopment Assistance section of a Capital Budget Itemization Act, have a regional or multi-jurisdictional impact, and generate substantial increases or maintain current levels of employment, tax revenues or other measures of economic activity.
