House Resolution to Call for Investigation of Commissioner George F. Halcovage Jr. Passes the House Unanimously
11/10/2021
HARRISBURG –Reps. Jerry Knowles (R-Berks/Carbon/Schuylkill), Joe Kerwin (R- Schuylkill/Dauphin) and Tim Twardzik (R-Schuylkill) announced that House Resolution 99 passed the Pennsylvania House of Representatives unanimously.

The passage of this resolution will allow the House Judiciary Committee to begin an investigation of Schuylkill County Commissioner George F. Halcovage Jr. and determine whether impeachment is necessary due to alleged misbehavior in office and violation of public trust.

“Today the House took the next step in the process of the investigation of Schuylkill County Commissioner Halcovage by passing this resolution,” said the delegation. “While we await the Subcommittee on Courts to begin its investigation, we acknowledge that this is very rare for legislators to ask for an investigation of a public official. Unfortunately, under the current circumstances, we believe it is necessary. Our obligation to our constituents throughout Schuylkill County is to determine the facts in this case and proceed accordingly. With the passage of this resolution, we hope that Commissioner Halcovage will do the right thing for Schuylkill County and resign.”

House Resolution 99 empowers the House Judiciary Committee and the Subcommittee on Courts to conduct an investigation of Commissioner Halcovage, to subpoena witnesses and other materials, and take testimony. The members of the committee will work in a bipartisan manner to ensure that the due process rights of everyone involved have been safeguarded.
